Groupama Seguros Selects Radware to Increase Web Applications Performance

MADRID, SPAIN June 9, 2009 02:00 PM

7000 employees, customers and partners enjoy a better user experience with the deployment of Radware’s integrated application delivery solution

Radware (NASDAQ: RDWR), the leading provider of integrated application delivery solutions for business-smart networking, announced today that Groupama Seguros, the Spanish subsidiary of Groupama a worldwide mutual insurance, banking and financial services group, has successfully deployed core products of Radware´s APSolute suite, which combine to optimize application delivery and protect against emerging attacks.

The objective of this project was to guarantee the security of Groupama’s web platform and to improve its performance in a high availability environment with geographical dispersion. Since the company's web applications are visited daily by more than 7,000 people including employees, partners and customers, offering the best user experience became the key concern for Groupama's IT department.

To address this challenge, in June of 2008, Groupama began looking for a load balancing platform that would also offer protection against attacks and privacy protection for its communications. This project was divided into three phases: the first phase covered the same services that were already provided, although load balanced with less powerful technologies and exclusively local redundancy in communications; the second phase dealt with the extension of the services involved to provide high availability with geographical dispersion. Finally, the third phase consisted of deploying security solutions to protect Groupama's mission critical applications.

Groupama deployed Radware’s intelligent application delivery controller to provide optimal application delivery through real-time traffic redirection, local and global server load distribution, and comprehensive dynamic bandwidth management. Combined with Radware’s application acceleration capabilities Groupama was able to put its full network resources to work by compressing web content as well as keeping access and transfer times consistently low. The quick processing of SSL transactions and digital certificates lowers the workload on application server CPUs and ensures quick and reliable process flows. Finally Radware’s real-time IPS solution was used to protect from external intrusions, scans in high-speed, in-depth and real-time application traffic, protecting and preventing Groupma´s website from threats and attacks.

According to José Luis Piédrola Nadal, Deputy General Director of Groupama Seguros, “Although we evaluated the option of evolving to higher versions of the platforms we were already using at the time, we consulted competitive solutions offered by other vendors. We finally chose Radware's solution, since it is very service-oriented. We think that these products are ahead of available other solutions on the market as they are easily adaptable to the different services we use, whereas other solutions we tested forced the service to be adapted to the tool's capabilities.” Piédrola added, “We also had very good references about Radware. They let us test their technology with no commitment. The results we obtained in these tests convinced us completely”.

Thanks to Radware’s solutions, all of Groupama Seguros' Internet services are currently supported by these platforms as are some of the corporate intranet's services. More than 7.000 people who use Groupama's website each day now enjoy better performance due to the load balancing and acceleration of secure protocols and obviously, in application security.

“Radware solutions helped Groupama to reach their business goals related to the decreasing of capital and operational expenditure while easily integrating with their existing infrastructure”, said Gonzalo Oltra, Sales Manager Iberia Radware. “This reinforces the fact that Radware’s integrated solutions can help companies realize high availability, performance and security of their core application system”.

Groupama Seguros belongs to the GROUPAMA Group in Spain, and is currently the leader in mutual insurance companies in Europe. With 150 years of history in the Spanish market, Groupama Seguros is a reference both for its technological innovation and the quality of its products.
