Radware Announces Immediate Protection Against Cisco Router Vulnerability, as Part of its SynApps Application Security Module

Mahwah, NJ July 21, 2003 02:00 PM

Radware (NASDAQ; RDWR) the leading provider of intelligent Application Switching (IAS), ensuring the availability, performance and security of networked applications across the enterprise, today announced the immediate availability of protection against Cisco’s IOS software vulnerability. This exploit allows remote attackers to target and cripple network interfaces on vulnerable devices by sending a sequence of IPv4 packets. This particular attack poses immense danger to the majority of routers deployed across all networks worldwide.

Radware’s SynApps Application Security module, available on all Radware Application Switching devices, automatically protects networks against Denial of Service threats, as well as more than one thousand application attacks. SynApps now recognizes and terminates the malicious sessions associated with this latest Cisco vulnerability while providing optimization and acceleration of applications and services operating on web servers, application servers, DNS and email servers, security devices and ISP links. Radware protection against the recent attack on Cisco routers does not require a code change to the Application Security module. Customers can install their own filters against the attack, thereby enabling them to take full and independent control of their security policy enforcement.

“Radware’s immediate protection against the recent attack on Cisco routers exemplifies our flexibility and continual focus on protecting our customers with site wide security that safeguards all core applications and critical resources,” said Amir Peles, Chief Technology Officer, Radware. “Radware is the only vendor in the market to provide real time application level security, delivering intrusion prevention and Denial of Service protection to continuously identify and block suspicious traffic at multi-Gigabit speeds. Our SynApps Architecture prevents the damage caused by this recent attack by intelligently recognizing the profile of the attack and denying it access to critical network resources.”
