Executable File Upload

An executable file (exe file) contains an encoded sequence of instructions that the system can execute directly when the user clicks the file icon. By having rules for executable file uploads, you can protect your organization's devices and network by leaving attackers with fewer ways to perform attacks. Attackers seek to upload a file and then execute it.

Failing to enforce restrictions on executable file uploads can lead to malicious consequences including complete system takeover, an overloaded file system or database, forwarding attacks to back-end systems, client-side attacks, or simple defacement.
